originally denoted "a Divine voice, an oracle;" hence, "a saying or report" (akin to phemi, "to say," from a root meaning "to shine, to be clear;" hence, Lat., fama, Eng., "fame"), is rendered "fame" in Matt. 9:26; Luke 4:14.
Notes: (1) In Luke 5:15, RV, logos, "a word, report, account," is translated "report," for AV, "fame." See REPORT. (2) Akoe, "a hearing," is translated "report" in the RV of Matt. 4:24; 14:1; Mark 1:28, for AV, "fame." See EAR, No. 3. HEARING.
