"shrinking, timid" (from okneo, "to shrink, delay"), is used negatively in Phil. 3:1, RV, "irksome" (AV, "grievous"), i.e., "I do not hesitate;" in Matt. 25:26; Rom. 12:11, "slothful." See GRIEVOUS, SLOTHFUL.
