Quiet, Quietness

<A-1,Adjective,2263,eremos> "quiet, tranquil," occurs in 1 Tim. 2:2, RV, "tranquil" (AV, "quiet"); it indicates tranquillity arising from without.
<A-2,Adjective,2272,hesuchios> has much the same meaning as No. 1, but indicates "tranquillity arising from within," causing no distrubance to others. It is translated "quiet" in 1 Tim. 2:2, RV (AV, "peaceable"); "quiet" in 1 Pet. 3:4, where it is associated with "meek," and is to characterize the spirit or disposition. See PEACEABLE.
